2012 Pathways to Christ Retreat

We welcome you to join us for this Christ-centered retreat.

The theme for the 2012 retreat, "Reflections on His Cross and Ours", is the subtitle of the book "The Theology of the Cross" by Prof. Daniel Deutschlander. One of the many Bible verses the book references is "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me." Mk. 8:34.

The theology of the cross is that teaching of the Bible that deals not only with Christ’s cross for our salvation but also with the cross that each Christian must carry. Our cross is difficult and painful. It changes form frequently. In fact the greater God’s blessings, the greater the cross that we carry and the greater its difficulty or pain. Nevertheless - - and this is one of the great mysteries of our faith: The crosses God sends are always intended for our blessing! So true is that that the Bible is filled with references to the glory and the joy of bearing the cross. So true is that that no Christian would want to be without a cross! In this series of lectures and discussions we will examine more closely what the Bible has to say about the cross and from his Word grow in our appreciation of it and gratitude for it.

Marc Scherschel from WLCFS will also present a session on helping us deal with some of the crosses that we face in our daily lives.

We are looking forward to Mike Westendorf entertaining us after the Saturday evening banquet.

Once again, we have Pastor Leon Ehlert leading us in Bible Study and inspiring us at the Worship service on Sunday morning.
